Waking Up

Spring is here and the bulbs are pushing their way through the mulch to gaze at the sun. The seedlings inside continue to thrive under lights and heat mats.

March 1st

The garlic and other Spring bulbs have begun pushing their way through the surface of the still frozen soil.

March 7th

I cleaned up the backyard dead foliage and covered as much of the soil as I could with gorilla mulch in the flower beds.

We had our first weekend of 60 degrees and we finished the trellis out front. I chose to not plant green and orange peppers and leeks this year. I threw out the onions which never sprouted and the Crocosmia which never came up.

I planted 6 Jalapenos, 2 Paprika, and 6 Aleppo peppers

I planted seeds for an herb garden which included 3 of each:

Thyme

Marjoram

Oregano

Dill

Chives

Cardinal Basil

And 2 Lettuce Leaf Basil and Flat leaf Parsley

I also planted 6 each of Pansy “Got the Blues” and “Swiss Giant”

I planted 3 of each:

Viola King Henry

Viola Johnny Jump Up

Viola Corsican Violet

I repotted the two eggplants which sprouted last month and the 2 Wool Flowers and planted another

The grow lights are working out wonderfully. The African violet is blooming again!

3 Thyme sprouts emerged today to join the three Cardinal basil sprouts that poked through the soil yesterday.
