Summer Begins

Work has kept me away from the garden more than I had hoped. Strawberries have been harvested, along with lettuces and spinach, and the Hollyhocks ae starting to bloom as the peonies completed their flowering cycle this month.

The Delphinium is blooming – my favorite part of the summer – and the big yellow butterflies are back. The Valerian, Blue Veronica and Bleeding Heart are all coming back.

I planted another consecutive set of bok choy, and thinned the Swiss chard, squashes, and beets. Three of the Okra seedlings have finally sprouted and I moved some of the cucumber plants around -hopefully not disturbing the roots enough to injure the plants.
