The Journey Begins
The Journey Begins
This is the time to look back over last year and plan for this year’s planting season.
We learned so much last year, and have an amazing opportunity to not repeat the same mistakes again…like planting radishes in pots indoors (what was I thinking?).
One of the highlights from 2017 was the influx of Painted Lady butterflies which swarmed the Red Valerian and Butterfly Bush. I decided to enlarge our front garden planting area to create a space for more insects and other creatures to come to the garden. Now, I must admit, my husband is not a huge fan of me actively attracting birds and squirrels and all the other critters that arrive unexpectedly (see my post on Pests), and I say this as we have a little something running around the ceiling above my office, but I cannot resist the appeal of being greeted by all kinds of creatures in the garden.
This is also the time to pull out all of the seed catalogs and add a few new plants to the garden.
